Governor General and his wife to be Patrons of the 2013 ISU World Figure Skating Championships®
OTTAWA, ON: Skate Canada is extremely honoured to announce that Their Excellencies the Right Honourable David Johnston, Governor General of Canada, and Mrs. Sharon Johnston have accepted the invitation to become Patrons of the upcoming 2013 ISU World Figure Skating Championships®. The event will be held March 11-17, 2013 in London, Ontario, Canada.
Their Excellencies will attend the championships and also participate in the victory ceremonies following the Ice Dance competition on Saturday, March 16th.
“It is indeed a great honour and privilege to have Their Excellencies as patrons of this significant event which brings together many guests from around the world," said Benoît Lavoie, President, Skate Canada. “Their encouragement for all the skaters, from the many different countries in attendance and for our Canadian athletes, will be so appreciated. We know that they are very supportive of skating as a healthy activity, and we look forward to sharing some very special moments from the best skaters in the world with them.”
This is the 10th time that the ISU World Figure Skating Championships will be held in Canada, and the first time they will be held in London, Ontario.
